RED HILLS A HUGE SUCCESS!!!

Laine and Anthony Patch never let up on their goal of a personal best score in a CIC 3* dressage test on day 1 with all it's deluge of cold rain slamming on their ride!

Day 2 with a very difficult Show Jump course ahead where there were only a handful of double clear rounds we took one rail and added 4 penalties to the start box on Saturday.  It was an extremely unfortunate rail and an unlucky one since AL hardly hit it but it proved to be the bogey fence for the entire division.  We could only be disappointed for a short time as the last phase held some pretty tough questions EARLY on the course.....
and the course was as daunting as it walked......and MORE.

The same scenario as was SJ continued onward to the cross country.
Fences 5a & 5b were the demons on the 3* course.  If riders got thru the A part than B was imposing.  They were double skinny corners and the horses had to have enough time to see what the question was riding each part of it separately.
Laine took coach Buck Davidson's advice and took a deep breath after landing from a huge brush fence #4, then kept Al on the well walked line never tarrying off it.  The question was easily answered and maneuvered precisely and successfully!  It was incredibly exciting yet had us on pins and needles for the long 6+ minutes out!!!!
Laine and Al walked away with the beautiful pink 5th place ribbon and another FEI competition behind them that proved to not only CEF/LaineAshkerEvent team but to those following Laine's career......
that they belong in the quest of what all our countries 4* riders are riding for....
to be THE BEST by being THEIR BEST!

I am so proud of my girl and her counterpart Anthony Patch.  Our horse of choice, The American Thoroughbred continues to exemplify that they are a mighty arsenal in our sport of Eventing.....
to never let us down and give far more when you think there is nothing left........
in more ways than one.
